I found my new favorite cider. These 22 ounces aren’t going to last long...

I’m doing Hibachi veggies, shrimp and steak tonight, and in addition to the hard spiced cider above, I’ve got a new Schilling Cider to try. What’s on your menu?

Aaaaaaand dinner is served. One pound of steak, one pound of shrimp, one pound of broccoli/carrots/zucchini, one pound of butter. Delish

Somehow I've yet to try a margarita. The Mexican joint down the street from me serves a LA Paloma grandé—I think that's the name—which is a human head sized glass full of tequila, agave nector, slush, and two corronas sticking out of the top. After the last time I lost two days to a Paloma Grandé, I decided to stay away from Mexican restaurants for awhile

Root beer with my cheap Tex mex. i need to stay sharp tonight.  I’m writing a paper, and also we are thinking family game night. My 12 year old regularly wipes the floor with us at Monopoly, and I need to be prepared for anything.

We had a bag of limes going bad, so I squeezed them all out for juice. Made some excellent margaritas. Super simple to make and soooo worth the effort.

A bottle of this with a strong shot of vodka added. (A nice botanical gin also works nicely, e.g. Bainbridge Heritage Doug Fir .) The bite of the alcohol and the bite of the ginger somehow diminish each other, creating a cheap summer cocktail that’s more than the sum of its parts.

I have not pulled out Risk on her. I used to play that all the time as a teenager. Hmmm.

I have to say though, she wins because she is really bold and takes huge risks.  When she wins, she wins handily.  When she loses, she crashes and burns spectacularly.  I like playing with her either way, because we don’t have the death by a thousand cuts that usually characterizes the tail end of a Monopoly game.

Again, a box of Franzia’s Cabernet Savignon. Well, there’s a plastic bag and a nice spigot inside the box, but still <$20 for 5 liters of 25 proof and histamines . In this heat of summer in south GA, I do add a lot of ice. Not drunk by noon on the weekends, and always well hydrated!

To me, Tequila tastes awful. And by the time I’ve had enough for it not to taste bad, I’m doing stupid things... I’m 60 ans now so I don’t touch it anymore. You go enjoy, though. :)

My Mom (RIP) made the best G&Ts I ever had. It was the ritual, though that I remember. She was English. She squeezed a half lime into each glass and rubbed the lip b efore dropping it in. Th en rinsed her fingers with gin into the glass before adding ice and tonic. She made them one at a time. And always a sprig of mint from her garden... Perfect cooler for those hot coastal NC summer evenings.

We do Life, Sorry, Trouble, Monopoly, Pit , Yahtzee, our new one Parcheesi , and a couple others. Sometimes we need  a fourth and have Hugz play. The danger there is the possibility of being beaten by a stuffed penguin. He’s a real sore winner, too. He has this infuriating victory dance.

So how was it? I only know Remy Martin from rap, which isn't really a good indication of a drink's quality. Although green apple ciroc is pretty nice... Thanks Fifty!

It was okay. Somehow I don’t have the same appreciation for Cognac compared to whisky, it’s a bit sweet for me.
